Appointment Monitoring

Policy

 

At 4 o'clock every weekday, the appointment lists are examined and two statistics are extrapolated.

The waiting time until the next available emergency appointment

The waiting time until the next available non-urgent appointment

Out of hours appointments are dealt with by CADOC. This service starts with nurse triage that will determine the appropriate clinical response to the problem, which ranges from telephone advice, consultation, home visit or direct admission to hospital.

Emergency appointments

Invariably, the waiting time for an emergency appointment is zero, as patients suffering from a medical emergency will be seen the same day.

Non-urgent appointments

If the waiting time for the next available non-urgent appointment is more than five days, then the practice will make more appointments available.
